On a former oceanfront estate, the zoo offers more than 700 animals from around the world including big cats, elephants, gorillas, anteaters, and giraffes in a delightful garden setting, with a new restaurant, spacious picnic area, miniature train and children's playground. Open daily, 10 am - 5 pm. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and children 12 and under.
Just across from the Radisson Hotel is East Beach/Cabrillo Pavilion, the city's most popular beach. Bike path, volleyball courts, picnic areas, and lifeguard. At Arroyo Burro Beach, 2981 Cliff Drive (Called Hendry's Beach by Santa Barbarans) sea lions, dolphins and whales are often seen frolicking offshore. Features snack bar, picnic area, volleyball net, and lifeguard.
Fishing opportunities are plentiful in the Santa Barbara area, including deep-sea fishing and surf fishing along the coast, pier fishing at Sterns Wharf and Goleta Beach, and freshwater fishing at Lake Casitas and Lake Cachuma. Santa Barbara Orchid Estate, 1250 Orchid Drive, Goleta (805) 967-1284. A multitude of orchids are displayed on the five-acre estate (one acre of orchids is under glass and another is outdoors), with more than 100 varieties in bloom at any given time. Cut flowers and plants are available for purchase. Visitors are welcome Monday Through Friday, 8 am - 5pm; Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm; Sunday 10 am - 5 pm.
